Rothley Wine – Battle Royal Rosé 2014

Rothley Wine
Solaris & Regent

This is a nice surprise and in fact the first wine from Leicestershire that I would recommend people to try. The Battle Royal is a blend of 90% white Solaris grapes with 10% red Regent.

Beautiful pink salmon colour int he glass, it has got a super-fresh nose of apple, lemon and strawberry with tropic and floral hues from the Solaris grape.

Zippy acidity on first taste with lots of green apple, pear and fresh lemon flavours before evolving into a more red berry focussed mid taste with a slight creamy weight. With subtle flavours of strawberry and red cherry, there is also a slight mineral quality present.

It’s a really pleasant rosé that would be a perfect summer drink.

Winemakers Description:

A medium dry rose wine with a salmon blush colour. Aroma of English orchard fruits. Balanced and fresh, driven by berry flavours, with a smooth lasting finish. Named for the conflicts in the War of the Roses.
