Stopham Estate – Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris 2013 Book Cover Pinot Gris 2013
Stopham Estate
Pinot Gris 85%, Bacchus 15%

Interesting aromatic Pinot Gris, actually with 15% Bacchus in the blend.

Nose has that English white freshness and floral quality, but there are fuller sweeter notes of ripe peaches and passion fruit.

No malolactic fermentation, so the acidity remains crisp and fresh at first taste. The palate is dominated by a stone fruit mix of peaches and apricots, with noticeable floral character.

Off-dry and sweeter than a lot of English whites, combined with the full ripe fruit flavours giving the wine a softer juicier palate.

A very enjoyable summer drinking white, but fairly straightforward in character with the focus on the fruit.

Winemakers Description:

Our Pinot Gris is off-dry and is pale yellow in colour, with aromatic peach and pear fruit alongside the floral character. On the palate, this has excellent balance with crisp acidity. It is fairly full in body, with plenty of juicy fruit intensity, but is refreshing and long, with a delicate citrus and stone fruit finish.
