Quite a different expression of English Sparkling wine; this is a blend of Seyval Blanc and Reichensteiner from Leicestershire.
A very aromatic nose, nice mix of citrus and pear with distinct elderflower/floral character and toasted biscuit and bread notes.
On to the taste, this wine is a lot more fruit focussed than I expected. Lots of fruit flavours of crisp apples, pears and lemon citrus. A little bitter on the mid taste, with slight yeasty notes on the finish.
I found it an enjoyable wine, but the fizz was too relaxed and not persistent, which was a little disappointing.
Our very popular bottle fermented sparkling brut with 3 or 4 years bottle age.
