WINE REVIEW

With the 2013 vintage poised to release imminently, I thought it was a good time to re-visit the superb Brut Cuvée 2010 from Jenkyn Place. A classic blend of 60% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir and 8% Pinot Meunier.

Aromas of crisp orchard fruit and citrus with wafts of warm sweet pastry and ripe stone fruit – you just can’t wait to get stuck in!

This wine ticks all the right sensory boxes you want in a sparkling wine. Brilliant, bracing acidity – check! Sublime fusion of ripe orchard fruit and stone fruit flavours – check! Supple mousse with soft creamy textures and excellent integration – check!

All in all, a textbook example of well-judged structure and acidity from the master of high-octane English Sparkling wine that is Dermot Sugrue. The maturity also shines through and gives the wine excellent depth.
