Great British Wine at the Albury Wine Festival in June

Great British Wine founder and self-appointed English wine ambassador John Mobbs will host a duo of English wine masterclasses at The Albury Wine Festival on 9th June from 11 am to 5 pm.

Two masterclasses will run during the day at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm, featuring the collective efforts of the five producers within the Vineyards of the Surrey Hills group. The sessions will cover sparkling white, rosé and still wines and promise to deliver a comprehensive taste of the diversity of Surrey winemakers.

John explains his involvement in the festival:

"As a Surrey resident, I'm hugely proud of what my home county has achieved as a winemaking region. It was a privilege to be asked to share my enthusiasm for our homegrown, Surrey-made wines at one of the country's most innovative, Biodynamic wine producers, Albury Organic Vineyard."

Talking of the other producers included in the masterclass, he added:

"Producers like Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking have built the foundations for English wine tourism, while Greyfriars Vineyard continues to produce a growing array of precise, expertly made wines that also deliver exceptional value for money. And then you've got two boutique producers in the form of High Clandon, known for its quintessentially English sparkling wines, and newcomers Chilworth Manor Vineyard, who are already doing great things with their rosé."

"Surrey is the hidden gem amongst the main English wine regions, and one I'm sure that we'll be talking more and more about in the coming years."
