WINE REVIEW

Following up from the superb 2013, the 2014 Primordia Brut has once again been made at Hattingley Valley from grapes grown on the picturesque vineyard of Blackdown Ridge in Haslemere.

A pleasing light golden hue with lively small-medium sized bubbles, the Primordia 2014 impresses with its open nose with aromas of baked apple and pastry.

It feels a little dryer than the 2013, which falls in line with many other 2014 Brut/Cuvée’s I’ve had from other producers. Crisp lemon and green apple bite, leading to smoother apricot flavours and textures.

A really interesting dry savoury character develops on the finish that is more marmite than baked bread. This character really lingers with hints of almond and zest, leaving you reaching for more.
