WINE REVIEW

Produced exclusively for M&S from Bacchus grapes grown in the Lamberhurst vineyard, this cooler site prompts higher acidity and greener notes.

On the nose is a vibrant mixture of prickly pineapple and freshly cut lime with dried herb, nettle and dock leaf aromas. It smells exactly like an English white wine should, but with the intensity dialled up a little – that’s a good thing!

The palate doesn’t disappoint either. Laser sharp acidity, bone dry with bold cutting lime and grapefruit flavours.

Grassy and nettle flavours underneath with a slightly persistent texture and great length, finally white pepper and flinty notes on the finish.

This is one of the best Bacchus’ I’ve had from Chapel Down to date. Direct and punchy, but structured and layered; a true sensory explosion!

Also a superb food pairing choice thanks to the high acidity and focus, we tried alongside a fragrant Thai spiced mince pork and rice. This pairing truly brought out the best qualities in both the food and the wine.
