WINE REVIEW

Unbelievably this is only my first encounter with Gusbourne sparkling (though I’ve previously tried and loved their still wines).

The Brut Reserve has a pretty lively fizz – lots of froth and foam with each glass poured. The nose is light and a little closed, with notes of lemon and hints of minerality.

Bone dry on the palate, this is a very English expression of sparkling wine; lacking some of that Champagne biscuit complexity but super clean and precise. Tangy green apple, fresh from the orchard and tart lemon bite. Slight creamy texture and flavours lead to lengthy citrus aftertaste with hints of toasted oat and mineral.

A super elegant English delight.
