WINE REVIEW

One year on from my visit to Langham Estate, the Dorset producer has gone from strength to strength winning a series of awards as well as refining their label to a new modern, sleek design.

Thanks to this, the recently released 2014 vintage is turning a few heads, with the Classic Cuvée composed of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Precoce.

The colour is light and golden, while the bubbles are fine and plentiful, lifting aromas of red apple, honey and light pastry notes.

Initially vibrant though a little tight, followed by a flurry of ripe apricot and sweet juicy red apples with wonderfully rounded creamy weight.

Of all the 2014 vintages I’ve tasted to date, I was surprised by the depth and roundness this relatively young release exhibited. The slightly honeyed fruit notes complement that brisk, bracing citrus tang and acidity, while the lengthy presence ensures this to be a hugely enjoyable drop of English Sparkling Wine.
