WINE REVIEW

Following on from my recent review of the delicious Langham Estate Classic Cuvée 2014, I was very keen to give the Rosé a try.

This 2014 is a blend of 89% Pinot Noir and 11% Chardonnay and the grapes were whole bunch pressed, partially fermented in old oak before being blended with a small amount of Pinot Noir red wine to increase colour. The resultant blend spent 24 months on lees.

The slightly more than blush colour suggests an appealing wine, and the nose doesn’t disappoint. Summer berry aromas of strawberries and ripe cherries with hints of honeyed pastry – very attractive!

With a higher residual sugar (10.5g/L) than the Classic, this wine sits firmly in the crowd-pleasing category with its ripe red berry flavours. A brisk, youthful acidity keeps everything in check, with the tang of cranberry and citrus.

A very well structured rosé. Part of a pair of new  2014 vintage wines from Langham demonstrates that youthful English wine release can still deliver a broad and captivating palate.
