WINE REVIEW

My first tasting of Polgoon, who are a multi award winning Cornish producer with a range of still and sparkling English wines.

The Polgoon Bacchus has a light elegant but aromatic nose, teasing with notes of gooseberry and citrus with fresh green grass, elderflower, mineral and hints of white pepper.

On the palate, this wine is classic Bacchus through and through. Intense cutting acidity with vibrant lemon and lime flavours as well as more juicy hints tropical of grapefruit and passion fruit.

A strikingly dry profile overall – and there’s a wonderful salinity running through, reminiscent of the Cornwall sea-breeze. The finish is lengthy; notes of elderlower with just a twist of lime zest.

An excellent example of single varietal English white wine.
