WINE REVIEW

I was pretty excited about trying this wine – not only is it the first self-released wine coming from Dermot Sugrue (head winemaker at Wiston Estate and former winemaker at Nyetimber) but this wine is and was rated as one of Decanter’s top 50 wines in 2014, from a lineup of 4,800 wines.

This wine is a class act from start to finish. The label and branding; unique, iconic and distinctive and with ‘The Trouble with Dreams’ subtly communicated in the spot varnished label.

On the nose, there are the familiar lemon and crisp green apple aromas, surrounded by richer opulence of stone fruit, biscuit and nut.

A big bold bracing acidity with lots of lemon flavour up front – but it’s not at all overbearing. The stone fruit flavours add a warmth and elegance, with the mid taste taking a superb biscuit-enriched turn.

Tiny bubbles and a refined creamy mouse, with this delicious fizz finishing with a superb lengthy citrus aftertaste.

Certainly up there with the best England has to offer!
