A final video for my Surrey Hills Wine Week marath A final video for my Surrey Hills Wine Week marathon!

I tasted three of Surrey's most innovative wines with my good friend @geojam5

@alburyvineyard Wild Ferment Pinot Meunier 2019
@greyfriarsvineyard Reserve Chardonay (Solera Blend)
@denbies_wine_estate Noble Harvest Botrytris Ortega 2025

Warning, this is quite a long video! But these brilliant wines deserved a full on, detailed English wine geek out 😀
Brand new from @AlburyVineyard, their Silent Pool Brand new from @AlburyVineyard, their Silent Pool White 2025 has been launched for @SurreyVineyards Wine Week.

This new white wine is a blend of Seyval Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, and opens with a fragrant nose of ripe orchard fruit and lemon zest.

The palate is fruit-forward, but crisp and fresh. Lots of ripe apple and pear flavour, with hints of melon and white peach.

Overall, this feels like the perfect counterpart to the already hugely successful Silent Pool Rosé.

I look forward to pouring this alongside six other Surrey Hills wines this afternoon at the Albury Wine Festival 2026!
A special look at @SurreyVineyards for @ukvineyard A special look at @SurreyVineyards for @ukvineyardguide

What is that’s so exciting about the vineyards of the Surrey Hills?

Could it be the rolling slopes of the beautiful @tanhurstestate?

Or how about the mature vines of @greyfriarsvineyard, producing expressive, distinct sparkling and still wines?

There’s also a handful of vineyards that are smaller in scale, such as @solomscourtvineyard, just one acre in size and planted exclusively with Pinot Noir.

And then we have @highclandon, equally small and perfectly formed. The beautiful meadow overlooks the vineyard, which produces fine expressions of English sparkling.

And then on the larger scale, we have @denbies_wine_estate, famous for their vineyard train, which allows great views of the slopes of the Surrey Hills.

Then there’s @chilworthmanorvineyard; a vineyard surrounding a historic manor house, with great expressions of still and sparkling rosé.

And we can’t forget @alburyvineyard, which grows organically and biodynamically and produces the brilliant Silent Pool Rosé.

Overall, the Surrey Hills has it all. Fantastic wines, stunning views and great family business.

I do recommend a visit!
It was a joy to revisit @Denbies_Wine_Estate as th It was a joy to revisit @Denbies_Wine_Estate as they celebrate their 40th Anniversary during Surrey Wine Week.

Denbies is a stalwart of English wine and tourism. The White family's vision was way ahead of its time, ultimately planting a huge 265 acres of vines with a state-of-the-art winery and visitor centre at its core.

40 years on, and sustainability is now a huge focus for Denies. Under CEO Christopher White’s leadership, the Estate has achieved B Corp Certification and is one of the pioneering members of the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain Scheme.

From the humble beginnings of Surrey Gold - Denbies very first wine that is still produced today, to the modern era of winemaking under winemaker Andy Kershaw’s watch. Current highlights include the groundbreaking Wild Orange Solaris, the outrageously delicious Cubitt Blanc de Noirs 2015 in magnum, and the indulgent Noble Harvest Botrytis Ortage 2025.

Denbies continues to push the boundaries both in the winery and in their tourism offering. The vineyard train remains a huge attraction and a great way to see the expansive, dramatic slopes of the vineyard. Meanwhile, the Vineyard Hotel and adjacent Wine Library restaurant add an upmarket ‘staycation’ option, nestled amongst the vines and the opportunity to watch the sun set over the vines while dining and sipping on Denbies wines.

A big thanks to Chris, Andy, John, Olly, Anne, Jeannette, Harry and @randrdrinkers for a very memorable afternoon and evening,

Here’s to the next 40 years at Denbies!
It was great to have the chance to drop into @Grey It was great to have the chance to drop into @GreyfriarsVineyard during @SurreyVineyards Wine Week.

Greyfriars was one of the first vineyards that I visited and wrote about when I started Great British Wine in 2015. Back then, their Blanc de Blancs 2012 was about to be released, and impressed me, I said, "A beautiful rich toasty nose of vanilla, yeasty bread and sweet brioche."

Twelve years on, and Greyfrairs has gone from strength to strength, with significant improvements to their cellar door and wine tourism offering and a much broader range of wines.

It's their Blanc de Blancs that continues to shine for me the most. Now on the 2016 vintage, which I sampled while walking amongst the vines. This latest vintage once again shines with its delightful ripe orchard and stone fruit flavours, sumptuous toasty notes and then the brilliant balance of crisp English acidity. Greyfrairs continue to offer exceptional value for money, with the Blanc de Blancs 2016 retailing for £30 a bottle.

Look out for more Greyfriars wine reviews in due course, including their latest Sauvignon Blanc 2025, and a rather unique multi-vintage Solera blend Chardonnay!

Surrey Hills Wine Week continues with the launch o Surrey Hills Wine Week continues with the launch of the very first wine from Boutique producer @SolomsCourtVineyard.

Their very first wine, Elise 2025, is a delicate rosé made from 100% Pinot Noir grown in a picturesque vineyard set amongst woodland surrounding a manor house that was originally built in 1905.

Delicate salmon hues in the glass, the wine exhibits a crystalline elegance, with notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, cherry blossom, and peach skin.

The palate is beautifully bright, reminiscent of the great rosé wines of Provence, but with a lovely concentrated cherry and wild raspberry character. Hints of creaminess and suggestions of rosewater or perhaps Turkish delight add hidden depths to this beautifully realised rosé.

This is a very limited first release, with just 524 bottles made. Elise Rosé is avilable to purchard directly from Soloms Court for £35.00
One of the newest members of @SurreyVineyards is @ One of the newest members of @SurreyVineyards is @tanhurstestate, which is where my Surrey Hills Wine Week adventures have taken me to next.

Tanhurst is set on the outskirts of Dorking on Leith Hill. It’s a beautifully secluded site, with rolling slopes of the Surrey Hills full of vines. It’s a family-run vineyard, with owners Colin and Sarah turning their attention to wine when the vineyard planting and winery construction began in 2019.

The site now comprises the classic varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, as well as Bacchus, Cabernet Cortis and Sauvignon Blanc.

The estate’s first wines are now available: a duo of sparkling wines and a trio of still wines. My preference was for the bright, cherry-fruit-forward still Rosiers Rosé (£18) and the crisp, bright Felday Classic Cuvée (£33).

It’s a beautiful estate, and clearly an ambitious project, with a fully fledged winery onsite that currently houses some rather gorgeous-smelling still Chardonnay in barrel from the 2025 vintage, amongst other future releases.

Definitely one to watch, and it’s a stunning estate to walk around! The vineyard and tasting room/café is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
It’s @SurreyVineyards Wine Week! I’ve kicked It’s @SurreyVineyards Wine Week!

I’ve kicked things off by opening a bottle of the delicious @ChilworthManorVineyard Rosé Brut 2021

Planted in 2013, Chilworth Manor is a beautiful vineyard set adjacent to a historic manor house. Mia and Graham planted the classic trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier to make high-quality still and sparkling wines.

This Rosé Brut 2021 is my favourite of the current range, with its delicate pink hues and vibrant nose of raspberry, cranberry and strawberry shortbread.

The palate is full and rounded, packed with concentrated red-fruit flavours, but also has a lovely yeasty, savoury complexity. Drinks well on a hot summer’s evening, but also has enough complexity and depth to stand up to food pairing - I paired it with BBQ’d seabass on an asparagus and endive dressed salad.

Available now from Chilworth Manor for £38.50
Riverview Crouch Valley 2025 Pinot Noir Rosé Ava Riverview Crouch Valley 2025 Pinot Noir Rosé

Available from @riverviewcrouchvalley for £25.00

This brand new vintage of their rosé, with the 2025 being made from 100% Pinot Noir and made in partnership with @radcustomwinery

It’s a punchy, ripe rosé clocking in at 13.5%, but it opens up with fresh raspberry and cranberry, light citrus and minerality.

And on the palate, it’s really quite broad, but has a wonderful, striking acidity. It's got that typical Crouch Valley texture and weight, but then a clever use of Vinho Verde yeast in production has ensured a counterbalanced experience that is beautifully textured and layered.
What a joy it was to visit @vassaltisvineyards tod What a joy it was to visit @vassaltisvineyards today during our holiday in Santorini.

Where tradition meets a modern approach, Vassaltis specialise in doverse expressions of Assyrtiko, but they also grow Athiri, Aidani, Mantilaria and Mavrotragano. The also make white blends, a delicious chillable red and an indulgent Vinsanto dessert wine.

Wine highlights included Gramina, a premium Assyrtiko that combines the signature flavours of preserved lemon and minerality with ripe stone fruit and a gentle toastiness. This is serious stuff. I also really enjoyed the Alcyone, which blends both oak and stainless steel ferment for a wine that combines oak textures with racy freshness and minerality and incredible length.

The vineyard overlooks the blue waters in the distance, and we opted for 'The Full Experience', which consisted of four delicious courses and paired wines. The food was superb, hospitality outstanding and the short tour was perfect to get a feel for the wineries' ethos and short history.
The Heretics The Disobedient Pale Rosé 2025 Ava The Heretics The Disobedient Pale Rosé 2025

Available from @fortheheretics for £32.00

This is the long-awaited return of The Heretics Pale Rosé. The first vintage of their pale rosé, which was dubbed Blowhorn, really made a strong impression on me. It was my first taste of The Heretics wine, which went on to win a gold medal in the IWA in 2024, which was where I discovered the wine. Overall, a great calling card for what The Heretics are all about.

Once again, the fruit has been sourced from The Crouch Valley in Essex. This 2025 is made from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from both Crows Lane and Hollands Farm. And once again, it demonstrates this incredible structure and balance that The Heretics seek to deliver on their wines.

It's deep, visceral and textural with incredible length. There’s a grapefruit, orange peel, really grippy, quality that intermingles with ripe cherry, a summer berry pudding and a hint of creaminess.

Pale in colour, but certainly not pale in character!

Chilworth Manor Rosé 2025 Just released and avai Chilworth Manor Rosé 2025

Just released and available now from @chilworthmanorvineyard for £21.50

The 2025 vintage is a blend of Pinot Noir (60%) & Pinot Meunier (40%). It begins with a very clean, elegant nose full of summer red berries, as well as the fragrant floral charm of bergamot or yuzu.

On the palate, there’s an immediate wave of crisp lemon freshness and tangy cranberry, but then there’s this lovely depth of warm summer strawberries and ripe cherry. This wine has quite a weight (for an English rosé) to it at 13% volume, but it’s incredibly well-structured. The fruit ripeness and overall balance really make this a standout moment for the Surrey vineyard.

Happy #GreatBritishRoséWeek
Albury Organic Silent Pool Rosé 2025 Available t Albury Organic Silent Pool Rosé 2025

Available to Pre-Order from @alburyvineyard for £21.95

Very classy on the nose; this has bags of cranberry and raspberry aromas, with hints of cherry as well as floral and white pepper notes.

To taste, the Silent Pool once again melds those lovely tangy red fruit flavours with brisk citrus freshness and then softer waves of nectarine and cherry.

This is one of the best vintages of Silent Pool Rosé to date.

And watch this space; an all-new Silent Pool White wine will be launched in just over a month, which I’ll be pouring at the Albury Wine Festival on the 7th June.
Balfour Nannette’s Rosé 2025 Avilable from @ba Balfour Nannette’s Rosé 2025

Avilable from @balfourwinery for £25

As pale as rosé dare be, Nannette’s Rosé is a clear nod to the delicate rosé wines of Provence. The nose is fresh and fragrant, with aromas of peach skin, raspberry, cranberry, and lemon citrus.

The palate is bright and packed full of zesty citrus and cranberry, evolving raspberry and cherry flavours, while a tingling minerality keeps everything very elegant.

Incredibly refreshing and so well made.
Langham Corallian Classic Cuvée NV Available fro Langham Corallian Classic Cuvée NV

Available from @langhamwinery for £34.95

A Chardonnay (88%) dominant blend made predominantly from the 2022 vintage, with 21% reserve wine and just 1.5g/l dosage.

This wine immediately impresses with its combination of striking precision with mineral and lemon freshness, together with salted pretzel and roasted nut complexity.

A true star, and consistently one of my favourite Classic Cuvée wines.
Everflyht Wylde Available now from @everflyht for Everflyht Wylde

Available now from @everflyht for £22

Wylde is Everflyht’s brand new Charmat-method sparkling rosé, made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. The Sussex producer describes it as “a celebration of freedom, connection, and living well in the moment.” It may just be the perfect wine to drink this summer!

Delicate pink hues and lively bubbles, together with bright red fruit aromas and citrus freshness. This wine is all about the tangy cranberry and raspberry flavours and bright freshness, but also has a lovely depth of cherry and strawberry.
Wiston Tank 5 Chardonnay Available today from @Wi Wiston Tank 5 Chardonnay

Available today from @WistonEstate for £27

Wiston’s first ever still Chardonnay, made from estate-grown fruit on their Chalky slopes in West Sussex. Tank 5 Chardonnay is a blend of Chardonnay, 65% from 2022 and 35% from 2023, with just over a third fermented and aged in old oak.

Lovely nose on this, there’s immediate lemon zest and fresh orchard fruit notes, which is lifted by hints of floral orange or even bergamot fragrance.

On the palate, brisk acidity and classic Wiston precision manifest in lemon zest and crunchy green apple flavours. The mid-palate is softer and more layered, with hints of peach and a creamy weight. The finish is impressively lengthy, with again those hints of citrus and floral.
Flint Silex 2024 Available now from @flintvineya Flint Silex 2024

Available now from @flintvineyard for £26.99

This has long been one of my favourite English whots wines, and the latest 2024 vintage of Flint Silex is a real cracker.

Ripe orchard fruit flavours, peach skin aromatics and lovely structured textures with hints of ginger, spice and leesy richness throughout.
