WINE REVIEW
The B58 Winery is a brand-new producer in the New Forest founded by pioneering fruit farmer Sandy Booth. Sandy champions sustainable practices in the vineyard and grows vines under tunnel, working with winemaker Guillaume Lagger to deliver unique and innovative English wines. The Beaulieu Rosé is a blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Cabaret Noir.
Striking in its brick red colour, the nose is similarly curious, with aromas of cranberry, macerated strawberry, dried lemon/tangerine peel and suggestions of earthy, savoury complexity.
This wine’s textural intrigue continues to unfold on the palate, with a medium acidity and broader body than many English rosé wines offer. The promised red fruit manifests, together with a soft and supple body that gives the wine a warming presence.
What I really enjoyed was the fine tannic grip, and the hints of orange and black tea that ensure that this comparatively well-priced wine over-delivers with presence and statement.
