WINE REVIEW
A Celebration of Organic English Winemaking for Organic September.
100% Pinot Noir from Redmoors Vineyard, spent 2 years on lees.
Will Davenport is one of England’s pioneering Organic winemakers. Having taken over what is now Davenport Vineyards in 1991, Will completed conversion to Organic certification in 2000. In all the years that I’ve covered English wine, I’ve never tried Will’s sparkling rosé, so I jumped at the chance to try it when Soil Association got in touch to arrange a tasting.
Light coral pink in colour, this elegant sparkling rosé has clean aromas of cranberry, cherry and strawberry, with hints of shortbread and lemon zest.
The palate continues the wine’s bright, clean appeal, leading with a burst of lemon and tangy cranberry, then waves of cherry, raspberry, and a hint of pomegranate and minerality on the finish.
