WINE REVIEW

A blend of 66 % Chardonnay, 24 % Pinot Blanc, 6 % Pinot Noir, 4 % Pinot Gris. Full Malolactic Fermentation, with 12 months on gross lees. The final blend includes 25% Chardonnay that was fermented and matured in a concrete egg, with the addition of three barrels of Chardonnay from the 2023 harvest. No chaptilisation or sugar addition.

On the nose there’s a really opulent, ripe orchard fruit character, with peach skin, orange and a spiced ginger complexity.

What stands out about this wine is how superbly balanced it is, even in the challenging vintage that was 2024. There’s wonderful richness and complexity with bags of ripe peachy, almost creamy character, which comes from the prolonged lees ageing and Malolactic Fermentation.

There are light hints of oak texture and a lovely lingering minerality add additional layers of complexity to one of the most successful vintages of Silex to date.
