What is it?

Following on from last year’s ‘#theBIGenglishwinegoodfriday‘, Great British Wine is thrilled to once again place full support behind a social movement that this year aims to not only support local producers, but also the hospitality sector in these difficult times.

Last year saw producers take part in what became a crescendo of social media activity encouraging consumers to purchase wines from their local vineyards, and raise a glass in celebratory support.

This year its successor, #BigEnglishWineEaster, aims to broaden its reach across the wine trade, and to use its potential to extend support to those most in need.

The focus of this year’s incarnation will be an extensive series of social media events, with winemakers, trade and wine lovers everywhere, encouraged to open a bottle of English wine and share a photo or video, with the hashtags #bigenglishwineeaster and #BEWE, between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday, 3^rd April.  The campaign will preview from Monday, 22^nd March with a series of online events and social media posts hosted by an army of English Wine supporters.  This year, producers will be invited to contribute a percentage of their sales over the weekend to two charities: The Drinks Trust and Hospitality Action, and a raffle with contributions from English producers will raise further funds.

Open, taste and share your chosen wine(s) on the night however you like – pictures, videos, Instagram live streams! Be sure to tag the producer of the wine and don’t forget to use the hashtag #BEWE so that everyone can follow the fun!
