Great British Wine at Woking Food & Drink Festival

In two weeks’ time, GreatBritishWine.com founder John Mobbs will be heading to Woking to host the first in a series of talks on English Wine at the annual Woking Food & Drink Festival running from Friday 1st – 3rd September.

Named the county’s Best Local Food Event 2015 and 2016 by readers of Surrey Life Magazine, the free-to-attend festival is set to dish up another three days of live cookery demonstrations served by Surrey’s top culinary talents and well-known celebrity chefs in the Tante Marie Culinary Academy Theatre, topped off by a bountiful platter of foodie treats for all the family.

This year's festival will also host new tasty ingredients, including a Cellar Wines and Deli Zone, Bite-size Talks from food and drink experts,Kenwood in the Kitchen exhibition, interactive shows with Katy Ashworth and much more!

John will be hosting two talks through the weekend that give discerning visitors the chance to both learn about and taste some delicious local wines. Full details on the two talks below;

The successful rise of English wine and gin

John Mobbs, founder of Great British Wine, will talk about the key regions for English wine and tell you why it's so good. Local success story, Ian McCulloch co-owner of Silent Gin, will talk about its journey from small, boutique brewer to an award-winning and popular brand.

A tasting of Award Winning Wines of Surrey will follow the talking, including wines from Albury Vineyard, Denbies Wine Estate, Greyfriars Vineyard, High Clandon and Hawkins Bros. Fine English Wine.

English wine and cheese pairing masterclass

John Mobbs and Francis Gimblett will teach you how to pair English wines and cheeses. During the session, you will sample a selection of cheeses and English white, red, sparkling and dessert wines. *T&Cs: Over 18s only

Wines to taste will include examples from Albury Vineyard, Denbies Wine Estate and Greyfriars Vineyard.
