Dalwood Vineyard Still White Wine 2020
A fresh, crisp and deliciously fruity white blend from Dalwood in Devon.
There are a number of different varietal strains known as Madeleine Angevine, the original being of Loire Valley origin and a cross of two grapes called Madeleine Royale and Précoce de Malingre.
The variety grown in England, to give its full name, is known as Madeleine x Angevine 7672, apparently a freely pollinated seedling of the original Madeleine Angevine. This variant first reached England in the late 1950s where it can grow particularly well, even in regions and on sites that are less favourable.
Bud burst occurs early and flowering and fruit set don’t require particularly warm or dry conditions. It is known for its crisp acidity as long as it’s picked early enough. It tends to have light floral aromas and, flavour characteristics include lemon and green apple.
