WINE REVIEW
WINE OF THE MONTH: JANUARY 2018
It was a fantastic 2017 for Hampshire-based Coats & Seely, who scooped up a collection of trophies at the inaugural UK Wine Awards for their mature La Perfide Rosé & Blanc de Blancs. However, it was this Non-Vintage Rosé that really grabbed my attention more recently.
The Coates & Seely Rosé NV is a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Pinot Meunier, with 9g dosage.
This is a rosé that doesn’t sit back and rest on its laurels. The vibrancy of the acidity leaps across your tongue with grace and vigour, before a burst of red berry flavours takes centre stage.
The bubbles appeared surprisingly restrained in the glass, but persistent enough with a soft and supple mousse.
What impresses me most about this wine is the long, drawn out finish. Hints of citrus zest, red currant and raspberry linger.
A wonderfully fresh rosé for the new year!
